Meet the Loewy GSIF Philippines MetalMatter Team: Priya Blaise

Priya Blaise, class of ’27, is an undergraduate engineering major at Lehigh University; her metal forming processes of interest include solid state extrusion and Shear-Assisted Processing and Extrusion (ShAPETM).

[1] What excites you about this project?

I am interested in materials science and excited to do testing on the metal sample we will receive form PNNL (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory).

ShAPETM sounds like a really promising technology and I can’t wait to see how it expands in the future. I am also very passionate about creating a sustainable future and hope this project will make a significant impact on the world.

[2] How do you envision this project helping you achieve your academic and career goals?

This project gives me hands-on experience and allows me to take my learning outside the classroom. I am also possibly majoring in material science and engineering so this project helps to expand my knowledge of what a material scientist does and the possible jobs available to them.
